P90X Lean Day 28: Rest

Posted by uncharch7 on June 30, 2009

Here we are again, another week done. This is a huge week to have completed though since it signifies the END of Phase 1! I’m done with a third of the program (ok, actually I still have a couple days until the actual date, but still).

Overall I’m still in love with the program. Looking ahead though I’m a bit nervous. I love the shoulders and arms workout but in Phase 2 it’s going away and in comes chest, shoulders and triceps. From what I’ve heard from C, I’m going to die. Pushups galore… which I don’t like!

Goodbye Phase 1, hello Phase 2!

P90X Lean Day 27: Yoga X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 29, 2009

Again, I don’t do yoga. This is also my first day back since vacation, so Cardio X is the workout of choice.

It was ok. I’m really dragging today, which is understandable after the weekend we’ve had. I do have to admit, it does feel good to get back into a routine. I ran a mile today too, obviously it’s not as far as I should be running, especially after a short workout, but it’s something. I think we’re going to do a race in August… time to get moving!

P90X Lean Day 26: Cardio X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 28, 2009

No workout for me today, we were up at the crack of dawn to catch our flight back home and ever since then it’s been craziness trying to get unpacked, get the dog from the kennel, go grocery shopping and recovery from exhaustion from the trip. Trip review to come soon…

Tomorrow it’s back at it. Day 30 is coming up this week, EEK!

P90X Lean Day 25: Stretch X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 27, 2009

Scratch stretching. Run instead!

I was determined to get at least one good workout in while we were on this trip and C wanted to come with me. Originally we were just going to go to the workout center but we ended up on a 25 minute run through the area we are staying in. At 8am it was already 80 degrees but relatively low humidity. Yowza that’s hot for being that early! I made it through the whole run but I was ready to be done at the end of 25 minutes. This was a huge eye opener for me; I used to do so much more without a problem.

I feel better now that we’ve gotten something in; our eating has been less than stellar this trip.

P90X Lean Day 24: Kenpo X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 26, 2009

We’re still in TX, so stay tuned for a review of this workout which is to be done on Monday when we’re back in the swing of things. Today is just a bunch of car riding looking at neighborhoods and some walking around!

P90X Lean Day 23: Core Synergistics

Posted by uncharch7 on June 25, 2009

If you want a workout review, see yesterday. Today I’ve left the land of workouts and have traveled half way across the country to visit Austin, TX. My workout today will consist of walking casually while sightseeing and moving my hand from waist height to my mouth all while holding a glass of some brownish liquid.

Now do you understand why this is a great week for a rest week?

P90X Lean Day 22: Yoga X and Weigh-In Wednesday

Posted by uncharch7 on June 24, 2009

Well, we all know I don’t do yoga. I’m also going on vacation at the end of the week. I did a switch and did Core Synergistics today. I’m finally back into doing almost everything in the workouts after my big pull-up bar mishap. I’m moving around pretty well, but still no running, at least at great distances. I seriously need to stop skipping through the water breaks and do the warm-ups and cool downs in the videos. ::sigh:: A goal is a good thing, right?

I know you’re all dying to know the results of Weigh-In Wednesday too. Let me tell you, they’re far from spectacular. It went up. That’s right, we’re up to 148.2. Yeouch.

That, my friends, is all I have to say about that.

P90X Lean Day 21: Rest

Posted by uncharch7 on June 23, 2009

And this, my friends, concludes the active part of Phase 1. It’s amazing how fast it got here!

I live for these rest days. They’re the end of a hard week and thankfully fall on my hardest work days. Even though I’m still up at 4am and going strong until 10pm, I don’t have to even think about a workout. I get a physical and mental break.

I’m really glad I repeated this week. I feel like it was a good decision and that the rest week now aligns better with my schedule. I’m pretty nervous about not doing much over the next week; we’ll see how the scale likes me!

P90X Lean Day 20: Kenpo X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 22, 2009

Coordination…check.
Good workout… CHECK.

I really concentrated on abs this morning and while it was difficult, it was a good workout. I have fallen into the bad habit though of skipping parts of the rest breaks simply to get through the workout faster. Today I had to water the veggies since it has been so hot lately and since I’m on a limited schedule, I had to get out there by 6:30 to get it done. I feel like it’s a good upper body workout and it’s something that would be a great workout to take along when we’re not at home.

The end of Phase 1 is in sight!

P90X Lean Day 19: Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X

Posted by uncharch7 on June 21, 2009

Wow, how time flies! I can’t believe I’m back to the dreaded workout. I skipped ARX today because I did it yesterday, the plan is to do it tomorrow.

My legs are going to be sore, that’s about the only thing I can say. My butt is about back to normal, so I was able to do every squat and lunge that was in that video. I BROUGHT IT, baby! It felt SO good. I knew it was a good workout, but I couldn’t even imagine how good it could be. The only thing I have trouble with is the one-legged wall sit but I just did two-legged for the entire minute and felt OK with that.

The upper body is still a learning process. I still have this fear of falling, I mean, how could I not after the trauma from a couple weeks ago? I am comfortably doing 10 reps of every pull-up/chin-up that is in the video, even though on some I could do more. I have been doing a majority of them with two legs up on the stool but I’m starting to do 6 with two legs, then alternating with 1 leg on the stool. I figure I can’t improve if I don’t push myself more.

One more workout then it’s a BREAK!
